With gadget makers constantly competing to come up with the best, the latest, and the most innovative inventions, many people have high expectations about the latest technology. At the same time, however, many already have become weary of the “new” advancements, like higher memory space, more compact packages, gadgets in new colors, etc. Some gadgets even have memory space that is so large that people no longer have any use for it.
With this in mind, Lenovo aimed to push the limits of what is acceptable for laptop computers. As gadget manufacturers geared up to showcase their latest invention at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Shows (CES) in Las Vegas, one particular model caught the eye of gadget-lovers. The ThinkPad W700ds has a 17-inch screen display. But it doesn’t stop there because it also featured a 10.6-inch slide-out secondary screen display.
It is the first mobile computer with two screen displays. Lenovo says that it is designed to enable customers who are used to working on two monitors to enjoy the same convenience while on the go. However, while having a laptop with two screens undeniably sound cool, technology experts agree that the ThinkPad W700ds is definitely a niche product.
Typical laptop customers will hesitate to buy two screens when all they need is one. According to experts, the most likely consumers for the ThinkPad W700ds are engineers and other content creators who needs to work somewhere but cannot be in the primary office. Average users who need to use laptops on the plane or in the local coffee shop may not want to buy this gadget, though, especially if they don’t need multiple work stations. The ThinkPad W700ds has its advantages and disadvantages. But for users who need to run multiple applications at the same time, this technological innovation is certainly beneficial.

Cool, but at the same time I think I would rather have an external monitor when I wanted a second screen.
wow! that’s one of a kind. never seen such thing before. Thanks for sharing.
