googleIn a report from The Verge, the technology website showed a cease and desist letter they were able to get their hands on, penned by Google and addressed to none other than Microsoft. The letter detailed the displeasure Google felt with Microsoft’s implementation of their native YouTube app on Windows Phone 8, citing unauthorized use of APIs. Google felt the Microsoft developed app just didn’t display enough ads for Google’s liking.

The C&D demanded that Microsoft not only pull the offending software from distribution, but also disable currently circulating versions of the software, leaving current users of the app to search for a 3rd party solution, or to use YouTube’s mobile website.
