How do you find the right BlackBerry App? Lucky for you, you have a lot of options to choose from. First, you need to decide how you want to research your next app. You can visit http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/ or just click the BlackBerry App world button on your mobile device.  Either way here are some of the variety of categories to choose from:

  • Business
  • Education
  • Entertainment
  • Finance
  • Games
  • Health & Wellness
  • IM & Social Networking
  • Maps & Navigation
  • Music  & Audio
  • News
  • Photo & Video
  • Productivity
  • Reference & eBooks
  • Sports & Recreation
  • Test Center
  • Themes
  • Travel
  • Utilities
  • Weather

Once you choose one of these categories you are prompted with yet another list of options: the apps offered. There are several free apps along with some moderately priced ones. I recommend checking out the free ones first, to see if you realistically use the genre of app before you really invest in it.

Let’s say you are looking for a Health & Wellness app. You decide you want something to assist you while you are at the gym and at home. Here are the sub categories under Health & Wellness:

  • Fitness
  • Health & Diet
  • Healthcare Services
  • Medical Guides

I choose Health & Diet which brings me to a screen with 60 apps. I scroll down the menu in a matter of seconds and scan the star ratings. The first one seems to be rated the highest and FREE. The app is called Calorie Counter by FatSecret. I read the description and it seems to fit my wants and needs: an app that allows me to count my calories throughout the day as well as quick, easy access to nutrition information. In order to be more confident in my decision, I check out the screenshots of the app. This app in particular offers 12 details screen shots. From this, I learn that this app does more than count calories but also allows me to keep an exercise diary as well! In addition, I see that I can create a diet calendar and develop a food diary separated by meals. Finally, I can see a diagram with my weight history overtime. Overall, this app looks very useful for someone who is looking to keep track of what they are eating and maybe even lose weight.

This is just a small sampling of BlackBerry apps. A, move over –B is catching up!

The BlackBerry mobile device is a complicated device to have, and it comes with enough features to keep one busy for a good amount of time. However, in the off chance that you need some more fun or helpful… you now know where to find it!
